Nanette Lelievre Bar Stools January 28, 2018 23:23:55
When deciding which bar stools to buy remember to take accurate measurements of the space available to ensure a comfortable fit. Bar stools should be just the right height so they are comfortable to sit in with adequate legroom but close enough to the counter top for convenience. As a rough guide aim for a gap of around 9 or 10 inches between the seat and the counter. Think about the positioning of your bar stools and leave enough space between each one for people to be able to move freely. Commercial style swivel bar stools can work well in home settings too and are great for saving space.
This is a good question. If you ask 10 retailers you`ll get 10 responses. In my opinion wood bar stools are prone to problems not encountered with welded metal bar stools. Due to the soft nature of wood (when compared to steel) screws and joints tend to come loose over time- especially wood with arms. The constant outward stress on the arms can loosen the attachment points resulting in a loose feel. Legs and stretchers (horizontal support bars) can also become loose over time resulting in an unstable and potentially dangerous bar stool. Still there are decorating situations in which only wood will work.
